Dr Clara Scheelje and Dr Inka Reitz are leading the development of the new web service portal ChemPortal at FID Chemie, as well as collaboration with the chemistry research community. A key focus of this work is providing information on Open Science and promoting Open Access.
Dr Wendy Patterson is a Member of the Board of Directors, serving as Scientific Director, of the Beilstein-Institut and oversees all projects of the foundation, including the Beilstein Diamond Open Access Journals.
Carolin Becklas Dorow is a project staff member at open-access.network, where she is primarily responsible for creating textual and non-textual information materials and conducting workshops for a range of target groups.
Abstract
The workshop “Open Access Publishing in Chemistry” is offered in English in cooperation with the FID Chemie. It provides an overview of Open Access publishing within the existing publishing system of chemistry.
The workshop covers the different publishing models: immediate Open Access in relevant journals, often involving publication fees (APCs); self-archiving previously published articles (Green Open Access); and Diamond Open Access, where publications are made available without fees for authors. The workshop also introduces the funding and support options available for these publishing models and explains how FID Chemie and open-access.network can support researchers in navigating them.
The workshop will conclude with an opportunity to discuss participants’ own questions and experiences with scholarly publishing and to explore practical examples together.
The workshop is aimed at researchers, editors, and anyone else interested in Open Access publishing in chemistry.
