Academic publisher Wiley announces a new 5-year agreement starting in January 2024 with the German DEAL consortium. For the next five years of the further planned cooperation, more than 1000 academic institutions are to be covered and a concept for the next phase of open access publishing is to be developed. Authors at German institutions will continue to be able to publish openly in the Wiley portfolio and will be offered read-only access to all Wiley journal content. The official signing and announcement of the details of the new opt-in contract is planned for mid-November 2023.
Results already achieved
The announced contract agreement builds on results achieved in the first five years of the partnership between Wiley and DEAL: 90% of articles published by Wiley in Germany are open access, and there has also been an 83% increase in the use of research content.
