The project AuROA - Autor:innen und Rechtssicherheit für Open Access publishes the report "Publishing and open access in the humanities: findings from the AuROA Project on stakeholders in the publishing process" (in German). The report of the BMBF collaborative project comprises the most important findings that the project has gathered from stakeholder workshops, an author survey, as well as from discussions and research work on the topic of Open Access publishing in the humanities and social sciences.

Authors: pro open access - little experience

The survey of authors from the humanities and social sciences focused in particular on their publishing experience and position on open access, publishing reputation and publishing services. Among other things, the survey revealed that the respondents are very positive about OA, but in practice are not yet very familiar with the concrete possibilities of publishing OA.

Publication processes: small-scale publishing landscape in the humanities

The most important topics of the workshops were hurdles and possible solutions in OA publication processes for and between the various stakeholder groups. Among other things, the stakeholders emphasised that it is important for them to distinguish themselves from the framework conditions in the field of natural sciences, technology and medicine (STM). They do not see the latter's broad solutions as being conducive to achieving their goals, since the publishing and disciplinary landscapes in the humanities and social sciences are, in contrast, very small-scale.
