Open Science Agenda: EUA supports transition to an open science system

Veröffentlicht am

The European Universities Association (EUA) presented its Open Science Agenda 2025 on 3 February 2022. The document highlights three priorities in which the EUA wants to support the transformation to open science:

  1. establishing open access to scientific results in an equitable scientific publishing system
  2. implementation of the FAIR principles for research data at institutional level
  3. reforming research evaluation.

Furthermore, the agenda describes the current challenges as well as the planned developments in the field of open science and names measures for implementation. The Open Science Agenda 2025 is based on the experiences of its members – more than 850 universities and national rectors' conferences in 48 European countries – in the transition to open science (EUA Open Science Surveys) as well as on national and European developments.

With the agenda, the EUA aims to support its members in the transition to open science and to contribute to the development of national, European and institutional strategies to promote open science. It also aims to encourage universities and universities of applied sciences to play a more proactive role in the regulatory and financial frameworks shaping the transformation process.
