The Open-Access-Tage (Open Access Days) 2024 will take place in Cologne this year under the title "DEAL, Diamond and Beyond - Open Access between Sovereignty and Dependence". The programme committee is now calling for suitable contributions. Proposals for presentations and workshops can be submitted until 23 March 2024. The deadline for posters, contributions for the tool marketplace and moderation proposals is 19 June 2024.
Open infrastructures, information budget and exchange between researchers and infrastructure facilities
With this year's selection of topics, the programme committee would like to address the tension between sovereignty and dependence in the open access transformation, which arises from the contrasting developments between transformation contracts with large academic publishers on the one hand and the establishment and expansion of scholar-led publication models on the other. The programme managers are therefore particularly interested in submissions on the following issues:
- Which open infrastructures for fair and sustainable open access already exist and which are currently being developed? Which of them are looking for cooperation, need funding or the support of the open access community?
- How can a balanced information budget be organised at the institutions? Who are the cooperation partners within the institutions and what interests do all those involved pursue?
- How can we promote dialogue between researchers and infrastructure facilities or institutions with open access offerings? How can we help researchers weigh up different options for open access and other publication options and make sustainable decisions? Which event and information formats can be used to reach researchers?
In addition, the committee particularly welcomes submissions of contributions in interactive formats such as workshops.
