Do it yourself: How do I edit an OA journal?

Veröffentlicht am

By founding their own OA journal, scientists can make a contribution to disseminating research results in their field. However, there are important things that need to be considered in advance: These include aspects such as the journal's technical operation, its administrative procedures, the acquisition of articles and their quality assurance, and the journal's promotion. In our next Open Access Talk on 27 May 2021 at 2 p.m., our speakers will present valuable tips that editors should consider before launching an OA journal. The presentation will be held in German.

Among other things, the following questions will be addressed:

  • What are the first steps before starting a journal?
  • What do I need to consider with regards to operating the journal on a sustainable basis?
  • What does the journal have to achieve to be considered professional?

The lecture will be given by Dr Xenia van Edig and Jessika Rücknagel from the Technical Information Library. Xenia van Edig has extensive expertise in publishing OA journals due to her many years of employment at the OA publisher Copernicus Publications. Jessika Rücknagel is employed in the open-access.network project.

Scientists, students, counsellors and all interested parties are invited. No previous knowledge is required for the lecture. After a half-hour lecture, there will be an opportunity to discuss questions. The lecture is free of charge. Registration is not required. The room will be opened shortly before the start of the event. You can participate via the following link: https://meet.gwdg.de/b/jes-dwc-6zq
