More than 40 scientific institutions, universities and funding organisations worldwide have signed the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information published on 16 April 2024. The declaration aims to enable the transformation of the scientific information landscape towards a system in which the openness of research information is the norm. The participating organisations commit themselves with their signature, to
- make openness the standard for the research information used and produced;
- work with services and systems that support and enable open research information;
- strengthen the sustainability of open research information infrastructures; and
- support measures to accelerate the transition to open research information.
The Barcelona Declaration was drafted by a group of over 25 research information experts. They represent the organisations that conduct, fund and evaluate research and provide research infrastructures.
