In a brief report, the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, German Research Foundation) takes stock of the incoming proposals and the funding situation as well as the review process in the first year of the "Open Access Publication Funding" programme: In 2021, 75 of 116 proposals received were funded with a total of more than 44 million euros.
The programme provides publication funds only: Funding is used to provide a subsidy for the publication of scientific results in open access. The funding programme aims to adjust the structure of funding streams during the open access transformation.
