Fokus Group "scholar-led.network"

The scholar-led.network focus group is intended to provide a venue for self-published journals and editor collectives of fee-free publication projects that are independent of major publishers. Inspired by initiatives in other countries (Radical Open Access Collective, ScholarLed, etc.), the focus group will define common interests for scholarly-led publication projects operating in German-speaking countries and explore possible fields of action and forms of interest representation.

The focus group is to take on further tasks in addition to networking. In addition to the development of a manifesto (German), which has already taken place, it would be conceivable, for example, to write a declaration on the founding of an association of journals to form a collective, to initiate joint funding applications or to prepare internal working structures on the basis of cooperative models.

The idea of the Scholar-Led focus group builds on networking work in the context of (third-party funded) OA research projects (InnOAccess, Open Gender Platform) and ties in with discussions held at community meetings (Open Access Days) and in the context of the respective institutions.
