Performing Open Access

The online workshop "Performing Open Access" will take place on 13 December 2021 from 10:00 to 16:00.

It is organised jointly by the Berlin Open Access Office and the University Library of the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK) as part of the BMBF-funded project open-access.network.

Open Access in the performing arts means taking into account diverse publication formats as well as the diversity of creative professionals. Scholars, artistic-scientific practitioners and artists create texts, images, visual and audio recordings, productions, scripts and much more. Thus, Open Access to artistic content and especially in the performing arts encompasses text- and non-text-based publications and reflects the diversity of content in a diversity of challenges.

Together we will look at the ways of publishing, the opportunities, but also the challenges of the publishing process. In two thematic blocks, we would like to facilitate an opportunity for exchange between academics, artistic-scientific practitioners and artists on the topic of Open Access. Jason Corff (Hochschulübergreifendes Zentrum Tanz) and Dr. Anna Luise Kiss (Hochschule für Schauspielkunst Ernst Busch) will provide insights into their experiences with the topic of Open Access. Practical feasibility and support services will be presented and the opportunity to network will be offered.
What does it mean to publish in Open Access in the performing arts? What does it mean to re-use content published in the performing arts in Open Access? What examples and offers provide points of reference? What are the wishes and needs?

Parts of the event will be held in English.
