The ZBW - Leibniz Information Centre for Economics (ZBW) is launching a consortium to fund community-led diamond open access journals for economics. Funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), the OLEcon Konsort project is part of Open Library Economics (OLEcon) and will have a three year duration. The aim is to professionalise community-led publishing in economics.
On the one hand, the library community is to be won over for financial support through various events and information materials, and on the other hand, researchers who play a role as editors, members of the editorial board or authors are to be actively involved in order to support the expansion of funding for the consortial model.
In community-led diamond open access, the publication in journals for authors and access for readers are free of charge. The publication costs are financed by institutional funds, funding agencies or by consortia of academic libraries, specialist societies or other institutions. This concept thus improves open access to research.
