Le Monde.fr has published a statement in support of Open Access signed by sixty leading representatives of the French scientific community.
The statement, which has met with widespread support in French scientific circles, challenges reservations against OA in parts of the social sciences and humanities in France and calls for the quickest and freest possible access to the results of publicly funded research, arguing that the humanities and the social sciences have a key role to play in this regard.
An English translation of the statement can be found here. The original French text and the current list of signatories are available here.
