Together with Harvard University and the Chinese Academy of Science, the University of Zurich has received the Open Access Institute of the Year Award. The award is granted by the British Open Access publisher BioMed Central. It recognizes institutions that play a leading role in improving access to the published results of scholarly research.
BioMed Central particularly praised the University of Zurich's Open Access strategy and its freely accessible publication database ZORA (Zurich Open Repository and Archive). ZORA is operated jointly by the Main Library and the IT Services of the University of Zurich.
