Springer Science and Business Media has announced that it is extending its Open Access offering by publishing Open Access journals in all STM (Science, Technology, Medicine) disciplines. The new journals will be published in a series called SpringerOpen. Springer will be supported in this endeavour by BioMed Central. The journals will be online-only publications. The articles will meet the usual high quality standards and will appear as rapidly as traditional publications. They will be published in a timely manner on Springer's online information platform SpringerLink and distributed to databases such as PubMed Central, and to institutional repositories on request.
