SocArXiv: Open access repository for social science papers gets underway

Veröffentlicht am

The SocArXiv open access repository for social science papers aims to become for papers from the social sciences what ArXiv.org is for disciplines such as physics, mathematics, and computer science, namely, a central archive providing free access to scientific knowledge. Following the purchase in May by Elsevier of the Social Science Research Network (SSRN), one of the largest repositories for preprints in the field of social sciences, the establishment of the not-for-profit platform SocArXiv.org also marks an attempt to counter the trend towards the privatisation of the digital science infrastructure.

The initiator of the platform is Philip Cohen, who is supported by a distinguished steering committee and by the not-for-profit Center for Open Science.
