Under the motto Participation, the organisers of this year's Open Access Days are calling for proposals for lectures and workshops. The motto stands for the fundamental vision of Open Access (OA) and refers to the great potential that underlies most OA initiatives.
Contributions can be submitted on the following specific questions:
- How is economic participation shaped against the background of changes in the OA landscape through read-&-publish contracts and initiatives such as Plan S?
- How can non-commercial publication initiatives or non-university authors participate in the academic discourse against the background of these initiatives and contracts?
- What form can social participation in scientific knowledge take through OA? And what opportunities for social participation are supported by OA?
- How can less privileged countries actively participate in the global academic discourse?
The Open Access Days 2021 are planned by the University Library of Bern as an on-site conference (also to be livestreamed) from 27 to 29 September.
After assessing the pandemic stuation, between 150 and 300 people will be able to attend the conference at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, but the planning will remain flexible and adapt to the given circumstances.
There will be a call for posters and for the tool marketplace at a later date.
With up to 400 participants each year, the Open Access Days are the central annual conference on Open Access in the German-speaking world. It is aimed at all those who are intensively involved with the possibilities, conditions and perspectives of academic publishing. This includes staff from libraries and other institutions that are related to the academic infrastructure as well as publishers, researchers and members of the academic administration.
The conference will be held in German. However, contributions in English are also welcome.
If possible, the contributions are to be recorded on video and made accessible online via the TIB AV-Portal after the conference.
