The Open Access working group of the priority initiative "Digital Information" of the Alliance of Scientific Organisations in Germany has announced the publication of the guide "Open Access Publication Funds" within the framework of this year's Open Access Week. A key objective of publication funds is to make the process of transformation from traditional subscription-based publishing to publication-fee-based Open Access publishing efficient and sustainable. Hence, Open Access publication funds are much more than an administrative, organisational, and financial instrument for the management of funds to pay Open Access publication fees. The brochure explains the objectives of Open Access publication funds and the considerations that should be taken into account when establishing and operating such funds.
