The Digital University NRW (DH.NRW) has published the Open Access Strategy of the Universities in the State of NRW (in German). In doing so, the member universities of the alliance want to affirm their will to establish open access as the standard for scientific publications in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Among other things, the document names eight strategic guidelines as well as ten fields of action and recommendations for a successful OA transition. The strategy paper was developed with the participation of the university management committees, the university libraries, research and the state initiative openaccess.nrw.

Through the Digital University NRW (DH.NRW), 42 universities from NRW and the Ministry of Culture and Science of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia are dedicated to the topic of digital transformation. Among other things, the alliance aims to establish a cross-university digital service structure as the basis for the digital transformation of North Rhine-Westphalia as a higher education location.
