Dr Nelle believes that the best possible quality of provision, the best possible visibility of existing knowledge and the best possible basis for the creation of new knowledge are what Open Access publications offer. In this context, he points to current achievements - such as the DEAL contract with Wiley - and measures taken by the BMBF - such as the establishment of the open-access.network competence and networking centre. The aim is to have 70 per cent of all scientific journals published in open access by 2025.
