oa.atlas now as a community-based service

Veröffentlicht am

The oa.atlas is now available as a community-based service: Institutions can now submit changes to their data themselves - either directly on the details page (“Submit data”) or via the review page [German only]. The complete data set is also available for download as an Excel or CSV file.

Several new variables have been added, including

  • Participation in the DFG funding program Publication costs
  • Funding for contributions to OA anthologies
  • Open Library Badge
  • Signing of the Barcelona Declaration on Open Research Information

Two data sprints on June 19 (9:15-10:00) and July 1, 2025 (14:15-15:00) offer the opportunity to learn about the new features and check your own data. Register by emailing oa.atlas@open-access.network, stating the desired date.

About the oa.atlas

The oa.atlas provides a structured overview of open access strategies and services at scientific institutions as well as in the federal states and at federal level. Users can find and filter institutions via map or list view and view central variables such as Open Access officers or the signing of the Berlin Declaration. The “Federal States” checkbox can be used to call up the state dossiers.

Further information

Simone Franz and Maxi Kindling show how the oa.atlas can be used to analyze open science in Germany in the Open Research Blog Berlin [German only]: Offene Wissenschaft kartieren. Status quo von Open-Access-Strategien und Infrastrukturangeboten an Universitäten und Hochschulen im oa.atlas – Open Research Blog Berlin.
In the Zenodo community of the open-access.network project you can now find a second version of the dataset including codebook and data documentation (German and English, as of 09.05.2025).
