PLOS recently launched the Accelerating Science Award Program to recognize pioneers who have applied scientific research published through Open Access to innovate in any field and benefit society. The winners of the three top awards of USD 30,000 each will be announced in October 2013. The major sponsors are the Wellcome Trust, Google, and PLOS.
