The fellow programme "Freies Wissen" (Free Knowledge) of Wikimedia Germany is open again and applications are now possible. The fellowship is aimed at doctoral students, post-docs, research assistants and junior professors (or people in comparable positions) who are working at a scientific institution in Germany, Austria or Switzerland or who have a proven track record of involvement in other scientific organizations or networks.
The fellow programme teaches the topics of Free Knowledge and Open Science and their practical application. The fellows learn methods and tools with which they can shape Open Science. During the eight months of the fellowship, they will also explore the question of what constitutes Open Science and how principles of diversity and knowledge equity can be established. For the programme year 2020/21, up to 20 fellowships of 3,000 euros - in certain cases even 5,000 euros - will be awarded. The application period ends on 30 July 2020.
Further information on the programme and a download of the call for applications can be found here.
