The renowned German Education Index (FIS Bildung Literaturdatenbank) has been accessible free of charge on the Internet since January 2010. The database contains over 700,000 references to literature from all areas of education. It is provided by the Educational Information System (FIS Bildung), a network of almost 30 documentation institutions, and is hosted by the German Institute for International Education Research (DIPF). In this way, DIPF is promoting Open Access in the area of education.
