The Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ) is a non-profit directory of scientific journals that are freely accessible in Open Access. Those responsible are currently looking for volunteers with a knowledge of German or Portuguese to support them in processing journal applications for inclusion in the DOAJ. Interested parties can apply via an online form on the DOAJ website.
Voluntary contribution to the dissemination of OA publications
According to the DOAJ, volunteering contributes directly to the quality, reputation and visibility of OA publishing around the world. The activity involves several hours of unpaid work per week. Volunteers receive training materials and work under the guidance of experienced editors. Tasks include the evaluation of open access journal submissions in the respective language. Good knowledge of open access, experience in scientific publishing and English language skills are required. Confident use of online tools and stable internet access are also required. Confidentiality in dealing with the application data is of great importance.
