From October 6 to 8, 2025, the international conference Crafting the Future of Diamond Open Access: Technical, Social, and Political Perspectives of Scholarly Publishing will take place in Göttingen, GER. The aim of the event is to connect actors in the Diamond OA field from all over Europe and beyond. Institutional publication services, librarians, research funders, academics and all those active in the open access ecosystem are invited. Contributions can be submitted until June 1 - as a 20-minute presentation or short poster lightning talk. Topic areas are: Technical Frameworks, Community Empowerment and Policy Concepts.
Networking, standardization, strengths
The conference marks the conclusion of the EU project CRAFT-OA, which is developing technical infrastructures and community structures to support Diamond OA journals. The aim is to strengthen existing institutional offerings, provide standardized solutions and expand competencies within the community in the long term - among other things via the European Diamond Capacity Hub launched in January 2025.
