The German Research Foundation (DFG) has extended its funding programme "Open Access Publishing" until the end of 2020. The programme was established in 2009 to provide financial support for Open Access publication funds at universities. In future, applicants will be required to cover a gradually increasing of the annual publication costs themselves: from 20% in the first two years, to 60% in the sixth year. The purpose of this modification is to "make it easier for universities to continue financing the publication fund from their own budget, even after DFG funding ends."
