The KOALA-AV project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) at the Communication, Information, and Media Center (KIM) of the University of Konstanz and the Technical Information Library (TIB), will be completed on schedule on October 31, 2025. The aim of the project was to further expand and permanently establish the KOALA open access financing model. This objective has been successfully achieved. With the end of the project, KOALA is entering a permanent phase: KOALA will continue as a permanent service at the TIB.
KOALA as a consortium funding model at TIB
As part of the KOALA program at TIB, 15 publications have been supported by consortium funding over a period of three years. Two further bundles comprising a total of five publications are currently in the pledging phase. In this phase, funding institutions—including libraries, research institutions, and companies—can declare their willingness to provide financial support for publications over a period of three years. The TIB acts as the consortium office in this process.
