Service centre to strengthen diamond open access

Veröffentlicht am

The German Research Foundation (DFG) has published a call for proposals for the establishment of a service centre to further develop and consolidate the diamond open access publishing landscape in Germany. The tasks of this service centre will include the provision, bundling and mediation of basic services as well as the development of advisory services. The aims are to promote professional and international networking and coordination of decentralised services, to promote innovation and to increase the performance of diamond open access infrastructures operated in Germany in general. Only one project will be funded to set up the service centre. This can be carried out by a consortium of different institutions that are responsible for the different areas of the service centre, or by a consortium of institutions that develop the overall offering. As part of the call for proposals, funding can be applied for to set up the service centre, initially for three years and for up to six years in total. Funds totalling a maximum of 1.5 million euros are available per year.

The DFG is asking interested parties to submit a letter of intent by 15 March 2024 Funding proposals can be submitted via the DFG's elan portal until 1 August 2024. On 7 February 2024, the DFG Head Office will organise a general information event (in German) for institutions that are generally interested in submitting a proposal.
