At its meeting on 11 December 2024, the DFG's Joint Committee approved the project of the consortium SeDOA - Servicestelle Diamond Open Access (Service Point for Diamond Open Access), which will initially be funded for three years. The service centre supports editors of scientific publications and other stakeholders at universities and non-profit institutions. The aim is to promote the establishment and further development of diamond open access publication structures.

Central contact point with an efficient communication structure

The SeDOA consortium, coordinated by the ULB Darmstadt, brings together 15 scientific institutions and numerous partners. Together, they want to create a single point of contact with an efficient communication infrastructure. The planned measures include needs analyses, the provision of information materials and legal opinions, workshops and training courses as well as international networking.

Integration into a European network

According to the DFG, this funding is intended to continue its commitment to a diverse and science-led publishing system. As the German ‘Diamond Capacity Centre’, the Service Agency will be part of a European network in the European Diamond Capacity Hub (EDCH). The EDCH was launched in Madrid on 15 January 2025 and is managed by OPERAS. The hub aims to strengthen Diamond Open Access in Europe.
