Switch to diamond open access with shift+OPEN

Veröffentlicht am

University publisher MIT Press is calling for applications from scholarly subscription journals across disciplines and around the world to join its new shift+OPEN programme by 31 March 2023. The initiative supports existing journals in journal flipping, the transition from closed access to a diamond open access publishing model. The programme provides funding for the transition for a period of up to three years. In addition, MIT Press provides its full publishing services to the selected participants: including production, marketing, financial management, hosting, abstracting and indexing, and manuscript management software. At the same time, the programme assists in developing a sustainable financial plan to publish the journal open access beyond the end of the term. shift+Open is aimed at existing journals that have been published in English for at least three years under a subscription model. MIT Press intends to publish in digital format only, but says it will also consider submissions from journals that also contain a physical edition.
