It is very difficult to estimate how the pandemic situation will develop until September. It is therefore uncertain whether and under what conditions participants from German-speaking countries or speakers from overseas will be able to travel to Bern in autumn.

In order to simplify the planning for all participants, the Open-Access-Tage 2021 will therefore be held online. Upon consultation with the original host city of Bern, the project partners of the BMBF-funded information and networking portal open-access.network will assume the role of the virtual "local committee". The on-site Open-Access-Tage in Bern will then take place in 2022.

The scope of this year's conference remains participation:

Participation stands for the fundamental vision of OA and refers to the great potential underlying most OA initiatives. Under participation, very specific questions can be formulated that are important or promising for OA.

The Call for Proposals for talks and workshops will be extended until 3.5.2021.

The call for posters or a similar format will follow in the next few weeks. A tool marketplace will not be held this year.
